Anri is the mastermind behind Skeleton Meat Phantasy Library, feverishly releasing over two dozen records of cybergrind, nintendocore, and experimental electronic music over the last half decade including three collaborative releases with bottom surgery under the name Skeleton Surgery.
Who are you? Got any hobbies outside music?
Video games, Rubik's Cubes, and cooking - Anri works at a restaurant and music venue, so bar food is a go-to.
Who were your earliest influences?
Rolo Tomassi and the first cybergrind band she got into, Blind Equation.
What kind of music do you typically listen to?
Fellow cybergrind peers such as Thotcrime, Sleeping on Stardust, ZOMBIESHARK!, and (of course) bottom surgery. She also listens to a lot "generic metalcore" such as Dying Wish and the older material of The Devil Wears Prada and Parkway Drive.
Ever play live?
Recently played her first show ever as SMPL at EJ's Eats and Drinks in Little Rock, with a variety of local noise acts including CHEMICAL X, plebeian feedback, FOUND OBJECT(S), and CAR MEAT.
Where do you go to see concerts?
Anri recently moved back to Little Rock from rural Texas and spends a lot of time exploring the local Arkansas scene.
Opinions on metal, hardcore, and cybergrind in general?
Hearing what her coworkers have been listening to has really shown how influential metal has been on the scene - that said, she mainly vibes to the older, more electronic styles, which is what originally got her into cybergrind; if she had to pick favorites, her favorite cybergrind act is still Blind Equation, who are responsible for her getting into making cybergrind music in the first place.
